Appliance Disposal
Appliances are lucky if they last a decade and that means a growing mountain of fridges, freezers, washing machines, and dryers piling in utility rooms, garages, and yards across the country. There just isn't room for all of that to fit into landfill. Of course if your old appliance still happens to be good enough and in fully workable order you could resell it and eBay and Craig's list have become great recycling systems in their own right, but that just isn't always practical. Which is where we come in and why you want to call us about disposing of your aging or unwanted appliances.
Don't Put Your Back Into It Fridges and freezers, especially older models are huge and heavy items that are best lifted by the experts with the training and the teamwork required to safely lift and transport them. Washing machines literally have a lump of concrete in them (to give them stability when they go into the spin cycle) so we really wouldn't recommend that you try lifting them too. We've got the experience, the trolleys, the ramps and the lifting gear where necessary to deal with those heavy weight appliances. Donation The best way to recycle anything is simply to use it again, that way it has a second (or third, or fourth) life. When you call on us to come an take away those aging appliances you're also calling on our knowledge of who will be more than happy to be gifted those big old fridge freezers or washers. We'll make sure that your junk becomes the treasured property of a good home and you can specify that the objects are donated and not sold. Recycling Landfill is a poor option for most appliances because not only do they contain large amounts of metal that can be recycled but they also frequently contain gases and fluids that are harmful if not disposed of properly (see below). That means that they have to be recycled by professionals and different recycling plants may specialize in one type of appliance (larger, rather than smaller, for example) over another because they are looking to reclaim specific metals or reusable elements. So give a thought to mother nature while getting rid of your unwanted appliances and let us ensure they go to the proper people to break them down and recycle what can be reused. Disposal Appliances aren't simply chunks of metal – if they were then recycling would be simple. They are also complex systems involving motors and heat exchange units and some of the fluids and gasses to be found in them shouldn't be let into the atmosphere or allowed to seep into the earth. There are toxins in many electrical appliances and batteries that will make their way into the water if they are buried. There are ozone damaging chemicals that should be properly contained and not allowed to escape. Sure, there are junk haulage outfits that don't care about that and will just haul anything anywhere for money but we are professionals and we like to ensure it's done right – which means you can count on us |
